Exploding Lone Star    star.pdf
The dates for our twenty-third Pheasant Run Retreat are set and
we chosen a wonderful topic... the lone star.  For some the lone
star quilt is a “company” quilt, a special quilt because the pattern is more difficult.  It is a classic pattern that can almost pulsate with some color combinations.  Quilt Smart has changed our mind about the lone star.  It is no longer so difficult!  And oh, the possibilities to change and enhance.
So now I would like to have a little conversation with you about the lone star.  I am imagining your thoughts about the lone star...
“I’ve done it” - You may have made a lone star but you have not seen our ideas.  There are many variations - vary the color of the diamonds.  (Do you like the spiral above?); vary the diamonds by “fussy cutting” some and piecing others; vary the setting triangles and squares to create secondary patterns.  The ideas are endless.  Plus if you have done it, you will be ready for some of our more advanced ideas.  One of the ideas is an eagle.  Yes, pieced right into the lone star.
“It’s too difficult for me.  I am not experienced.”  - This is the perfect project for even a less experienced quilter because of the Quilt Smart.  Some of our ideas are simpler and we would direct you to one of those.
“I don’t like the lone star with Quilt Smart.” - We won’t require that you use Quilt Smart and will show you another traditional technique to create a lone star but will encourage you to re-visit the process.  The accuracy is incredible.  Perhaps we have some tricks to share with you.
Call or email for further conversation.
